Microsoft announced Thursday the launch of its Forefront Security for SharePoint public beta, technology it acquired as part of its Sybari Software acquisition. Microsoft's Forefront Security beta is designed to simultaneously use five antivirus technologies from various vendors, as part of its protection offering.

The beta is also designed to simplify the management of the security technology for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. The final version of the Forefront Security software for SharePoint is expected at the end of this year or early next year.
