It will be four more months before consumers can get their hands on Microsoft's Xbox game machine, but one fan will soon have the next best thing. Microsoft is giving away an early version of the Xbox Development Kit, a PC outfitted with the same equipment as the Xbox and generally sent to software developers who are writing games for the new console.
The machine comes outfitted with Windows 2000 and the Visual C++ software writing package and is autographed by J. Allard, Seamus Blackley and other key members of the Xbox development team. Details and an entry form are available on Microsoft's Xbox site.
