Microsoft called in for AMD-Intel case

Advanced Micro Devices subpoenas Microsoft as part of its case against chipmaking rival Intel.

Advanced Micro Devices has subpoenaed Microsoft as part of its antitrust case against chipmaking rival Intel, AMD announced Friday. Microsoft is one of many companies from which AMD has sought documents related to its case, which alleges that Intel engaged in pricing schemes designed to limit AMD's processor market share among PC and server vendors.

Intel has denied the charges, saying AMD has no one but itself to blame for its market share position. AMD has actually gained substantial market share since the case was filed last year. The two parties are scheduled to have a case management conference next Thursday, which should help set a timeline for the case.
