SAN FRANCISCO--mFactory officials announced today at Macworld that the company is shipping mTropolis 1.0, a new multimedia authoring package based on an object-oriented architecture.

mTropolis is built on an open architecture that will enable developers to create multimedia titles for both PowerPC and Windows 95 systems without reprogramming, company officials said. The package features a drag-and-drop interface, multiple project views, and support for object re-use.

The software includes mTropolis Players for Windows 3.1 and Windows 95.

Also at the show, Microsoft is showcasing its new Macintosh version of Internet Assistant 2.0. Used in conjunction with Word 6.0, the free add-on is slated for delivery this quarter. The update will support HTML 2.0, 3.0, and Netscape extensions.
