MetaTV lands $28 million

Interactive TV provider MetaTV says it has received $28 million in a round of funding led by Comcast Interactive Capital and Cox Communications. Other investors include Atrium Venture Partners, Harron Capital, Liberate Technologies, Redpoint Ventures, Rosewood Venture Group and Saints Ventures. The company said it will use the funds to build sales, pursue broader international distribution, and further its interactive TV services. The Sausalito, Calif.-based company works with network operators, technology partners, and content providers to deliver content, commerce and enhanced TV services to consumers through interactive television.
