MessageLabs adds Web filtering services
Company expands outside of e-mail security to become what it claims is the first service provider to offer security services for both email and Web traffic.
MessageLabs as expected on Monday expanded outside of e-mail security and introduced new Web filtering services. The new services can scan Web traffic for viruses, spyware and adware. Additionally, MessageLabs can filter based on Web addresses, allowing a customer to block access to specific Web sites. To use the services, a customer would route Web traffic through a MessageLabs data center.
MessageLabs has partnered with ScanSafe to offer the new services. MessageLabs holds a minority interest in the London-based company, which also sells the Web filtering services on its own. Pricing for the MessageLabs offering was not detailed.
