Fans got a closer look at the film's roster of characters and stunning special effects during Marvel's Hall H (that's the big one) presentation at San Diego Comic-Con.

In the new trailer released on Saturday, (here's our shot-by-shot breakdown of the first trailer) Stephen Strange goes on a journey of enlightenment under the tutelage of a Yoda-meets-Pema-Chodron character called the Ancient One, played by Tilda Swinton.

There are also glimpses of antagonist Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and additional cast members Mads Mikkelsen, Benedict Wong and Rachel McAdams.

"Doctor Strange" opens October 27 in Australia, October 28 in the UK and November 4 in the US.
