Being a teenager is hard enough. Add superpowers and villainous parents, and you have the makings of a geektastic TV show.
Based on the popular Marvel comic book series created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, the "Runaways" TV series is the story of six teenagers. The teens can barely stand one another but must unite against a common enemy: their parents, who are part of an evil crime organization known as The Pride. The teens also discover they have inherited their parents' superpowers.
On Wednesday, Marvel released the first cast photo for the show, which will debut this winter.
The cast includes actor Rhenzy Feliz as Alex Wilder the loud-and-proud nerd, Lyrica Okano as Nico Minoru the Goth Wiccan, Virginia Gardner as Karolina Dean the model-perfect teen longing to break free, Ariela Barer as Gert Yorkes the purple-haired riot grrrl, Gregg Sulkin as Chase Stein the lacrosse jock with the brain of an engineer, and Allegra Acosta as Molly Hernandez the overly positive youngest member of the group.
Marvel's "Runaways" TV series will have "Gossip Girl" creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage as showrunners. Filming began in February.
