Manhattanites can catch a ride on the Iron Throne this week
Have you fantasized about being the next great ruler of the Seven Kingdoms? HBO's newest "Game of Thrones" promotion will see Manhattanites carted around town while sitting on the Iron Throne.
Whether you pray to the Old Gods or the new, all you "Game of Thrones" fans out there will soon have your chance to sit on the coveted Iron Throne of Westeros.
To promote HBO's new streaming service, HBO Now, the company has teamed up with Uber to give Manhattanites the chance to take the Iron Throne without too much bloodshed. On Thursday and Friday, several Throne-mobiles and Iron Throne pedicabs will hit the streets of Manhattan, to be summoned by typing the promo code "ThroneRides" in the Uber app for iPhone and Android.
From there, in the app you choose either "Throne" to get the chance to take pictures of yourself sitting on one of a handful of stationary, glass-encased Iron Thrones, or "Pedicab" to be carted around town in a pedicab fashioned after the mighty throne while you pretend to be King of the Andals and the First Men. The Iron Throne will be available from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET each day, and will be limited to between 14th and 59th Streets and Lexington to 9th Avenue, according to NY Daily News.
For those of us outside Manhattan, it looks like our only option is to build our own Iron Throne so that we can at least be the rulers of our own kingdoms. Or you can follow along with the #RideOfThrones hashtag on Twitter -- press were given a chance to try the thrones before they become available to the general public on Thursday, so there are already photos on the hashtag.
