Macromedia opens Flash source code

Software developer Macromedia has made available its Flash Player 5 source code SDK to enable device makers to integrate the player into consumer electronics devices such as mobile phones and PDAs. San Francisco-based Macromedia said developers will be able to deliver graphics as well as provide consumers with interactive content, such as city maps, mobile online banking, real-time financial information and remote e-mail access. In September, Liberate Technologies integrated Macromedia's Flash Player into its interactive TV software. Liberate said the streaming media company's player will enable developers to create applications and graphics for interactive TV on its software.
