Sound lost after update, fix Users have also reported a loss of audio functionality after the update to Mac OS X 10.5.1 -- an issue that can sometimes be resolved by deleting the following files:

  • /Library/Caches/com.apple.Components2.LocalCache.AudioComponents
  • /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
  • /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

then restarting. (Thanks to MacFixIt reader Pasi for this fix).
