Loudeye names new tech chief

Digital-media company Loudeye Technologies says it has appointed Joel McConaughy as chief technology officer, a newly created position. Loudeye said he will be responsible for leading the company's technology development and strategy. McConaughy, who has more than 15 years of technology and development experience, was former senior vice president of technology at digital-entertainment distribution company Intertainer. He also served as chief technology officer of Digital Media Campus and a principal engineer at Informix. The announcement follows Loudeye's announcement last week that it would cut 45 percent of its 300-employee work force and close several offices in an effort to lower costs.
