Livingston to debut remote access software
The company will release a new set of software for managing the billing process for remote access connections to service providers.
The company, which was recently plucked by Lucent Technologies for $650 million to shore up that company's data communications lineup, will release the package tomorrow at Fall Internet World 97.
The tools, called the RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service) Authentication Billing Manager (ABM), are targeted at service providers that want to tie their remote access service provisioning mechanisms to a billing application.
The new software bundle will ship in the first quarter of next year.
Service providers are looking for better business controls as they expand into the hot market for outsourced remote access connections and value-added services to corporate America, according to Livingston executives.
The software is integrated into the company's RADIUS security server. The RADIUS protocol facilitates security during a remote access connection.
New features include the ability to support simultaneous remote access policies, log-in control, and proxy and roaming support. The billing application integrates with SQL databases from Oracle and Microsoft and provides a variety of charge choices and invoicing.
The new software starts at $1,500 for 500 users.
