Linux company TimeSys gets $8 million

TimeSys, a company focusing on Linux for "embedded" computing devices such as network routers or DVD players, said Tuesday that it received an $8 million investment. Adams Capital Management led the round, with participation from Philips Electronics, the Hillman Company and TimeSys Chief Executive Larry Weidman.

TimeSys, based in Pittsburgh, offers software development kits for numerous computing systems. Its software supports 35 different processors and 70 specific hardware systems.
