Like time travel: Film puts you in two centuries at once
Filmmaker superimposes historical footage of London on top of the same street scenes from the present day, creating a really fun view of the city.
"Wonderful London 1924 & 2014" is a new short film by filmmaker Simon Smith. To create it, he retraced the footsteps of two directors from the early 20th century, recaptured their shots of London street scenes exactly, and meshed the moving images of past and the present together.
The original footage was shot in 1924 by Harry B. Parkinson and Frank Miller for their world-renowned silent film series"Wonderful London." By mixing the two, Smith has fashioned a great way to glimpse at the two time periods simultaneously.
Give this then-and-now flick a watch. It's set to "Symphony No. 4" by Gustav Mahler and is quite a delight.
