Adobe Systems has updated Lightroom and Photoshop to support a number of new small, higher-end cameras from Sony, Panasonic, Olympus, and Pentax.
The software packages handle the raw photos that higher-end cameras can produce, offering higher image quality and better flexibility at the expense of convenience. And as new cameras arrive, Adobe must build support for the new models proprietary formats.
Lightroom 3.5 of and version 6.5 of Photoshop's raw-image plug-in (available on Adobe's download site) now can support a host of new compact interchangeable-lens cameras (ILCs) that lack the bulk-inducing reflex mirror of SLRs. In addition, it supports high-end medium-format cameras from Hasselblad, Phase One, and Phase One's Leaf subsidiary. The full list:

According to a post by Lightroom product manager Tom Hogarty, the new software also fixes a number of bugs, including problems with caching photos, performance, handling GPS data, dealing with tethered cameras on Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, handling dates before 1933, and more. Tethering still doesn't work, though, on the new Mac OS for three older Canon SLRs models, the EOS 5D, EOS 20D, and Rebel XT (aka 350D and Kiss Digital N).
Lightroom and the Camera Raw plug-in also can correct lenses' optical shortcomings, and the new version adds support for several new models, including Nikon's AF 80-200mm f/2.8D ED, AF-S 24mm f/1.4G ED, AF-S 35mm f/1.4G, and AF-S 50mm f/1.8G; Canon's EF 14mm f/2.8 L USM; Sigma's APO 120-300mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM for both Canon and Nikon SLRs; and a range of Hasselblad models
