Do you want a glimpse into the near future? LG is on the verge of launching some very powerful new smartphones and someone has posted the videos to prove it.

This video features an Android that LG is currently calling the "Optimus 2X". And it's the first phone we've seen in motion pictures running a dual-core processor. To test its need for speed, this lucky videographer pitted the 2X (bottom) against this generation's fastest Android, the Samsung Galaxy S, in a benchmark to the death. The results are, let's say, pretty conclusive.

And if you need any further evidence that a smartphone or tablet could soon be your next video game console, check out another video by the same poster showing him playing a game on his flat panel TV via the 2X's HDMI out port. Chipmakers Qualcomm and Nvidia are boasting graphic processing on the next wave of dual-core chips to be as powerful as Sony's Playstation 3.
