LG Xnote Z330 is LG's ultrabook
LG has thrown its hat into the ultrabook ring with the Xnote Z330. Can it take on Apple's MacBook Air?
Everyone and their mum is having a crack at making an ultrabook -- a thin and light laptop that doesn't skimp on power or battery life. LG is the latest manufacturer to unveil one of these lithe laptops, calling its new baby the Xnote Z330.
Detailed on LG's South Korean site, the 13.3-inch Z330 looks to tip the scales at a modest 1.21Kg, measuring just 14.7mm, likely at its thickest point. You can see just how slender it is in the faintly ridiculous press shot up top.
Intel's Core i5 and i7 processors are kicking off inside, backed up by a capable 4GB of RAM. Storage is handled by solid state drives, which are faster and more reliable than clunky old mechanical hard drives.
It appears to have integrated graphics though, so if you're planning on using your laptop for some serious gaming, you might want to look elsewhere.
The LED-backlit screen has a decent 1,366x768-pixel resolution. The Z330 also boasts HDMI and Intel's own WiDi, which lets you wirelessly output your laptop's video to a TV, once you've hooked your telly up to an adaptor.
The price comes in at between 1.7 and 2.6 million South Korean Won according to Slashgear, which equates to roughly £963 to £1,473. There's no word yet on when we can expect to see this ultrabook popping up on UK shelves though.
If the Xnote Z330 looks familiar, bear in mind that all ultrabooks are competing with Apple's own thin and light creation, the obscenely slim MacBook Air. When it comes to design, we reckon LG's attempt is the most Apple-aping effort yet, but we can't deny those clean metallic lines look rather alluring.
