As we speculated last week, LG is indeed going to unveil a 3D smartphone at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Much like the Nintendo 3DS, the LG Optimus 3D won't require glasses for 3D viewing. LG promises a "complete platform for a one-of-a-kind experience" as well as HDMI and DLNA connections for content sharing, presumably to a 3D-capable television.

Aside from that, we don't know too much about the phone. There's some speculation that it'll have a larger than 4-inch display, along with a dual-core processor and multichannel RAM. I have to say I'm not too excited about a 3D smartphone (I share Scott Webster's sentiment on the subject), but I am impressed to see LG as a pioneer in the field. Fortunately, CNET will be at Mobile World Congress, and we'll be sure to get a look at it and perhaps other 3D smartphones too. How about you, readers? Do you want a 3D smartphone?
