LAS VEGAS--LG Electronics kicked off CES 2011 press day here this morning at a Venetian Hotel ballroom.
The key word for LG this year is "smart," as in its "Smart TV" platform, which it unveiled this morning, along with smart appliances. The company devoted much of its news conference to trying to whet consumers' appetites about what Net-connected white goods can do.
It also offered a glimpse at new smartphones like the Optimus 2X. For details on the company's upcoming smartphone for Verizon, a model equipped with the up-and-coming LTE (Long-term Evolution) wireless technology, you will have to wait until tomorrow. LG also plans to introduce a tablet (along with practically every other company here) at a separate session tomorrow.
