LG GW300: For nimble-thumbed text addicts

The LG GW300 wants to feed your social-network addiction and help your fingers do the talking with a full Qwerty keyboard and a built-in Facebook app

It's freshers' week, and the LG GW300 is joining forces with booze and spot cream to keep you from become a pariah -- by offering built-in social-networking features and a full Qwerty keyboard.

There's a Facebook application built-in, if the hip kids are still into that, now that everyone's grandma is online updating her knitting status on the hour. You can also add shortcuts to your favourite contacts on the home screen, so you can track each text message like the tiny jewel of human contact that it is.

A 61mm (2.4-inch) display rounds out the package, and its landscape dimensions give the GW300 a BlackBerry-eque appearance. There's also an FM radio on board, and you can listen via Bluetooth or the standard 3.5mm headphone jack.

The GW300 will be coming out in blue on O2 and red on Orange, but there's no word from LG on when we can expect it in shops. We expect a low price to tempt the texters to part with their student loan money.
