LG cuts 4K TV prices, too
The TV maker joins Sony and Samsung in slashing the prices of its 4K Ultra-High Definition TVs by four figures. They're still very expensive, however.

Another 4K TV maker is slashing prices to stay competitive.
LG has confirmed to industry publication TWICE that it's reducing the prices of its 55- and 65-inch 4K TVs by $1,000 and $1,500, respectively.
The new price of the 55-inch 55LA9700 will be $4,999, while the new price of the 65-inch 65LA9700 will be $6,499. The new pricing takes effect September 1.
LG spokesman John Taylor told TWICE that the move was made to "keep LG Ultra HDTVs competitive in the marketplace."Earlier this week Samsung joined Sony in slashing the prices of 4K TVs. The prices of each of the three makers' 55- and 65-inch 4K sets are now neatly staggered by $500 increments.

Although we have contacted all three manufacturers, as well as Toshiba and Sharp, to get 4K TV review samples, the only 4K TV CNET has reviewed so far is the Seiki SE50UY04, a 50-inch model selling for $1,000. Fellow Chinese TV maker TCL recently announced its own 4K lineup for the US, including a 50-inch version for $1,000.
Although the price of LG's curved OLED TV has been lowered in Korea, its US price is still officially $14,999, significantly higher than that of competitor Samsung's at $8,999. TWICE reports that an unnamed US dealer says LG's OLED TV price will soon fall, however, to $9,999.
