Leap Motion launches in Australia

Leap Motion, launched in May in the US, is available in Dick Smith stores from today, priced at AU$129.95 (compared to US$79.95 direct from Leap Motion online), the company has announced. This includes both Dick Smith's stand-alone stores, Dick Smith stores inside David Jones and Dick Smith online.
The small, Kinect-like gadget hooks up to your PC via USB and monitors your hand movements in 3D in real time to allow motion control of your software. At this point in time, the Leap Motion app store is comparatively small, but is growing every day. So far, Leap Motion users have downloaded 1 million apps — a far cry from the 50 billion boasted by Android and iOS, but not bad at all for a device that hasn't even been on the market for six months.
"Dick Smith has more than 270 retail stores, a presence in many high-profile David Jones stores and a popular online retail site, making it the perfect partner for Leap Motion to launch in Australia," said Leap Motion president Andy Miller.
