Lante lures EDS exec
The Internet consulting company hires a former EDS executive as the new chief technology officer.
Marvin Richardson, 37, the former chief technology officer (CTO) at EDS' $2 billion e-commerce unit called E.Solutions, will lead Chicago-based Lante's technology practice. He follows Andersen Consulting's Rudy Puryear, who joined Lante in May after building up Andersen's $425 million e-commerce practice. Privately held Lante reported more than $25 million in revenues over the past four quarters.
Richardson joins a growing number of executives at traditional management consulting and services firms who have migrated to lead Internet-focused companies such as Lante, Scient, Viant, Zefer, Proxicom, Corio, and others. Meanwhile, older, more established companies, such as EDS, Computer Sciences, and the Big 5 management consulting firms have been moving to repackage their offerings for the Internet to better compete with start-ups that are recruiting heavily.
Richardson is not the first to leave EDS's new e-commerce practice. In July, E.Solutions' president and longtime EDS executive Gary Moore left the Plano, Texas-based systems integrator for a Silicon Valley start-up.
Prior to working at EDS, Richardson was vice president and chief technology officer at MCI Systemhouse, the consulting arm of MCI WorldCom. Richardson also worked as a technical analyst for two years at Oracle.
Earlier this week, Lante named Brian Henry its chief financial officer. Henry joined Lante from software firm Convergys, where he was chief operations officer of its information management group. Lante has offices in Charlotte, Dallas, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle.
