Should you be old enough to remember Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal winning NBA titles together, you'll remember that one of them was warm and amusing and the other was Kobe Bryant.

It was said -- and believed by many -- that the two superstars got on like Donald Trump and fake news.

And given that the truth always has a wiggly spirit, we may never know what really transpired.

What is clear, however, is that the people behind NBA 2K 18 managed to persuade both of them to appear in a new ad for the video game.

It's remarkable that Bryant appears in the ad at all, as Shaq is there to accept the honor of there being a Shaq Legends Edition of the game.

The scenario might even make some people laugh.

Shaq makes his acceptance speech. It all seems fairly routine until his teleprompter instructs him to say: "Most of all, I'd like to thank Kobe Bryant. He was an NBA 2K Legend cover athlete first. He's so awesome and handsome and has really nice natural teeth."

You will never, ever imagine who's typing the words into the prompter.

I imagine this isn't the only ad in this series that might appear. I fear they're setting these two up in a sort of Tom and Jerry of retired players pretending to dislike each other, but maybe liking each other and who's ever going to really know?

Kobe's teeth are a little much, though, aren't they?
