Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1989, Conventry, England-based Parallax is a privately-held company with 150 employees and annual revenues of about $14.7 million. Parallax, which designs and develops Web-based customer interfaces, will work with Keane to help round out its customer relationship management (CRM) offerings. CRM software helps a company track sales, customer service, and call center activities.
Parallax is Boston-based Keane's latest acquisition in a series of deals intended to expand its geographic and services reach.
Analysts say the $1 billion company must continue to build its outsourcing and business applications capabilities to compete as its core business of helping firms prepare their computer systems for the Year 2000 starts to dry up.
Last August, Keane acquired Icom Systems of Birmingham, England. Keane also acquired two companies to help build its customer relationship management capabilities, including El Segundo, California-based Fourth Tier and San Mateo, California-based Emergent.
