Jupiter names new CEO

Research firm Jupiter Media Metrix says it has appointed Robert Becker as its new chief executive officer. Becker replaces Tod Johnson, who had been juggling two companies; Johnson is also CEO of The NPD Group, a privately held market research firm that developed the technology for the original Media Metrix and Digital Media measurement business. Jupiter said Johnson will remain with the company as chairman of the board. Becker, who has an extensive background in management, operations and finance, is the former CEO of Infosis, a start-up Internet service provider. In addition, he has worked for The Thomson Corporation and PricewaterhouseCoopers. In March, New York-based Jupiter announced its search for a new CEO as part of its effort to reorganize its management structure. New York-based Jupiter was formed by the merger of Jupiter Communications and Media Metrix last year.
