Judge: PeopleSoft hearing won't be sped up

A Delaware Chancery judge on Wednesday denied a request by Oracle and PeopleSoft's shareholders to expedite an injunction hearing against PeopleSoft. Both Oracle and the shareholders were seeking to remove PeopleSoft's antitakeover measures such as its customer-assurance program. The parties were denied their request for a December hearing, said Bruce Jameson, an attorney with Prickett Jones & Elliott, who is representing the shareholders.

The judge cited a lack of urgency to hold an expedited hearing, given antitrust regulators have not yet made a final decision on Oracle's hostile bid for PeopleSoft. The judge, however, said he may be willing to block out some time in March, once issues affecting the deal have been "crystallized."
