Well, at least we can confirm the event will at least be related to Surface in some -- probably significant -- way. Microsoft

Join CNET on Monday as we bring you live coverage of Microsoft's Surface event in New York City, where the company is expected to unveil its next-generation Surface products.

The excitement kicks off at at 7:30 a.m. PT/10:30 a.m. ET. Our intrepid live blog team in the field will consists of Shara Tibken, Dan Ackerman, Scott Stein, and Tim Stevens, with Sarah Tew on photo duty. The team will bring you live coverage and offer their expert analysis of what Microsoft has up its sleeves.

Officially, Microsoft has been fairly coy about its plans for Surface 2, but that hasn't stopped other companies from spilling at least a few beans. And while we have our hopes for a new version of the Surface Pro and I've added my own level of conjecture to the discussion, we still don't know much. There are, however, a few things we think we know.

We're hoping Microsoft not only announces a bunch of specs and features, but also gives us some hands-on time with the new devices.

Surface RT failed to make the dent in the market Microsoft was no doubt hoping for. We can only hope it's learned from its mistakes and is now prepared to deliver something the market will be willing to support.
