John Boyega: Star of 'The Force Awakens' -- and a University of Nebraska ad

Long before he shipped off to a galaxy far, far away, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" star John Boyega posed for some stock images that recently surfaced in a career services ad.

Actor John Boyega, one of the new faces of "Star Wars," posed for a series of stock Getty images before he became an actor of the First Order.

You know him as FN-2187 -- or Finn -- in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," but before he joined the First Order, a teenage John Boyega posed for some stock photos that are still being used today.

A Redditor by the alias of Bear_Storm uploaded an image to imgur on Friday of a career services ad that was posted on campus at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln featuring the young Star Wars actor. Needless to say, Bear_Storm was surprised to see Finn from Star Wars in the ad.

Lest you think the image was somehow faked or not an actual image of Boyega, the actor confirmed the validity of the image on Twitter on Friday. He said he used the money he earned from the photo shoot to buy new trainers, something he can definitely buy more of now that he's achieved stardom as the new face of Star Wars alongside his onscreen co-star Rey, played by Daisy Ridley.

The photographs were originally taken by London-based photographer Chris Schmidt, who posted his recounting of the shoot on Facebook on December 28. You can see more of Schmidt's images of Boyega and his pseudo-classmates on Getty.

Schmidt's post ends with "The force is strong with [Boyega]," and we tend to agree.

Finn was able to hold his own with a lightsaber against Kylo Ren in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and we'll see Finn's next adventure in "Star Wars: Episode VIII," which is scheduled to land in theaters worldwide on May 26, 2017.
