Job site gets $5 million investment

The New York Times Co., Allen & Co. and Union Square Ventures are funders.

Job-search site Indeed has received $5 million in funding from The New York Times Co., Union Square Ventures and Allen & Company, Indeed said Monday.

Indeed was founded in 2004 by Paul Forster and Rony Kahan, who previously had founded Jobsinthemoney, a leading job site for finance professionals that was acquired in 2003 by Financial News. Indeed searches millions of job listings from more than a thousand Web sites, including job boards, newspapers and professional associations, adding about 110,000 new jobs per day, the company said.
