Japan's Epson does cheap Pentium II
Seiko Epson in Japan introduces a Pentium II PC that at about $1,550 may be the least expensive system of its kind in the world.
Seiko Epson's Endeavor Pro-330S, a build-to-order system that accommodates the fastest versions of Intel's top-line Pentium II microprocessor, falls below the 200,000 yen mark--below $1,550--according to a report in the online version of Nikkei Business Publications.
The Endeavor Pro-330S comes standard with 32MB of memory and a 2.1GB hard drive, both of which are upgradable. Customers may choose from among Pentium II processors running at 233, 266, and 300 MHz.
An Endeavor Pro running a 300-MHz Pentium II will cost 198,000 yen (about $1,550). The machines are available via online configuration and purchase.
