"Harry Potter" fans around the world had something to celebrate over the weekend, as author J.K. Rowling announced on Friday that a new to London in 2016. The play, called "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," is set to tell "an untold part of Harry's story," but Rowling really, really doesn't want you to call it a prequel.
Rowling took to Twitter over the weekend to frequently and repeatedly correct those who are calling it a prequel. That's despite this tweet in which the author definitely says it isn't a prequel -- a tweet posted just three minutes after Rowling's original tweet announcing the play's existence. Still, people were confused, from the writers of this CNBC piece who said that the "Harry Potter" prequel was coming, to countless others across Twitter who were feverishly tweeting at the author to clarify.
And Rowling responded. She was understandably frustrated, but she replied, telling people one by one that no, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" isn't a prequel. You can see some of the pretty hilarious responses in the tweets below, including arguably the best one in which Rowling has to restrain herself from cursing.
In case there was still any doubt left, Rowling posted a tweet on Monday with a promotional image for "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" that contains a pretty perfect warning. Alongside the image is a big red circle with the words "Warning: It is not a prequel," and it's a pretty perfect way to end this confusion once and for all. You can see that image at the top of this post.
