J.J. Abrams: It's no accident Luke is missing from 'Star Wars' trailers
Luke Skywalker has been absent from all three "Star Wars" trailers, and the director says there's a good reason for this.
Where the heck is Luke Skywalker?
That's one of the main questions Star Wars fans have asked after watching the three full-length trailers for the upcoming film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and director J.J. Abrams has finally given us an answer.
OK, so it was really more of a non-answer.

"These are good questions to be asking," Abrams told the Associated Press at the GLSEN Respect Awards on Friday, adding "I can't wait for you to find out the answer." Not wanting to let Abrams off the hook so easily, the reporter then asked, "So, there's a reason?" Abrams replied, "It's no accident."
Obviously, Abrams really wants to keep Luke Skywalker's role in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" under wraps until the movie comes to theaters in December. Though, as my CNET colleague Danny Gallagher points out, the final trailer that premiered on October 19 might have actually snuck Luke in.
In the trailer, we see a mysterious person in what looks to be a hooded Jedi robe with a robotic hand reaching out to R2-D2. That figure might very well be Skywalker, but it's impossible to tell for sure.
Fortunately, we don't have to wait too much longer to find the answer, as "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opens in theaters in the UK and Australia on December 17, followed by the US on December 18.
