iTunes expands movie sales to 42 more countries
Access to movies via the iTunes store is now available at more nations across Europe, Africa, and other regions, says AppleInsider.
iTunes users in a wider range of countries can now buy or rent movies, though some will bump into certain limitations.
Citing reports from some of its readers, AppleInsider says that iTunes movies are now up for sale or rental in more countries, such as South Africa. However, the movies available vary from country to country.
Some countries provide only films from Disney, Sony, and their subsidiaries, AppleInsider noted. Others don't offer movie rentals or high-definition films.
Last week, Apple expanded its iTunes Store into Russia, Turkey, India, South Africa, and 52 other countries. At that time, movies were available only in Russia, Turkey, India and Indonesia. Apple said it would push them out to select additional countries but gave no specific timeframe.
But as listed by AppleInsider, iTunes Store users now can access movies in the following 42 countries:
Europe: Belarus, Moldova, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine.
Africa, the Middle East and India: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Botswana, Cape Verde, Egypt, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, India, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Swaziland, United Arab Emirates, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
Asia Pacific: Indonesia, Micronesia, Mongolia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
Latin America and the Caribbean: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago.
