Italian government to use Athlon-based PCs
Advanced Micro Devices has won over the Italian government. The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based chipmaker announced that two Italian government agencies will use Olivetti MK800 PCs based on its Athlon processor. The agencies are Italy's Ministry of Justice and Consip, a department inside its Ministry of Treasury. The latest win furthers AMD's efforts to expand Athlon sales from the consumer market into business and government.
