Is this the ultimate big-game TV deal?

It's definitely one of them. The 60-inch Sharp Aquos LC60LE6300U will bring the New York and New England teams to your living room in style--for under a grand.

Is it wrong to, say, "bump" your old TV to the floor so you have no choice but to replace it in time for the big game on February 5?

Of course it is. A broken TV won't fetch nearly the same price on Craigslist as one that's in good working order. No, what you need to do is fake an internal problem, one that's seemingly beyond the scope of an easy repair.

For example, you could unplug the TV, then say it won't turn on. Fiddle with the remote for half an hour, throw up your hands, then get extremely frustrated at the prospect of having to buy a new TV.

Oh, but wouldn't you know, you just spotted a killer deal on CNET Marketplace. Thank you, kind fates!

Don't judge me.

Do, however, check out this singularly awesome deal: Best Buy has the Sharp Aquos LC60LE6300U 60-inch LCD HDTV for $999.99 shipped (plus sales tax where applicable). That's a good $400 less than you'll find it anywhere else.

The Aquos is a 60-inch LED-backlit TV with a 4ms response time and 120Hz refresh rate (ideal for fast-moving images, like football players colliding at high speeds). It features three HDMI inputs and a razor-thin design.

Also, did I mention it was priced under $1,000? If you can find a 55-inch TV at that price point, you're doing well.

CNET hasn't reviewed this model, but a dozen-plus users on Best Buy collectively rated it 4.5 stars out of 5, and it earned 4 stars on average from Amazon reviewers. The main complaint here seems to be with the black levels, meaning this might not be the best choice if you're a fan of space operas.

But for everyday viewing--and especially football viewing--this is a pretty terrific deal. Definitely worth a look.
