iPhone OS 3.0: MMS issues solved
If you've been struggling to send MMS messages with your spanking new iPhone 3.0 update, we might be able to offer a little help to get you up and running
It's been reported this morning that some people have had problems with their new iPhone 3.0 update, which has apparently been refusing to send MMS messages. We've championed the rights of the common person and managed to get an answer to why some people are having problems. Oh okay, we gave O2 a ring.
If you're either a Simplicity or pay as you go customer, once you've updated your iPhone, you need to text 'MMS' to 1010. This free text should start the process of activating MMS on your phone, and you should be able to take advantage of this new feature within 24 hours.
If you're a pay-monthly customer, the delay is down to demand on the O2 servers, and for you it's just a matter of waiting until the correct settings are delivered to your iPhone. O2 will text you to let you know when you're ready to go, which should be within 24 hours. If you haven't heard anything by then, you too should text 'MMS' to 1010 to trigger the process.
It was pretty obvious from the excited people on Twitter last night that the 3.0 update was going to put some strain on O2. We're not entirely surprised that this has taken longer than expected. Still, you've waited two years to send MMS on the iPhone, you can surely manage another 24 hours.
