iPhone on Vodafone lands 14 January

Vodafone has announced the prices for its iPhone, which will be in our pockets on 17 January. It's also dropped the 'unlimited' data claim in favour of a 1GB limit

Vodafone will be dropping down chimneys right after Santa to deliver the iPhone to good little boys and girls on 14 January.

It has also announced its iPhone contract prices, which we've put into a handy table for you. Like Orange, Vodafone isn't trying to compete on price -- check out our in-depth comparison of the iPhone on Orange versus O2 for all the details on their plans. Instead, it's hoping to convince us its network is bigger and better than its competitors'.

That leaves Tesco still offering the cheapest option for your new iPhone -- although you're stuck with the O2 network, which Tesco uses.

We've brought together the Vodafone tariffs into a handy table. All these deals include unlimited text messages, but Vodafone has dropped the pretence of 'unlimited' data and is including the set amount of 1GB per month in its bundles.

Tethering -- connecting your computer to your iPhone to use its Internet connection -- will cost £5 for 500MB, £10 for 1.5GB or £15 for 3GB.

You can pre-order an iPhone from Vodafone now at Vodafone's Web site. If you already registered your interest in the iPhone and you pre-order now, you'll also get free calls to Vodafone phones for the life of your initial contract.
