Apple has lifted the lid on its long-anticipated iPad mini. It's a 7.9-inch tablet that weighs just 310g. But when can you buy the thing, and how much will you be shelling out?
The iPad mini will go on sale at 8am on 2 November, which is in just over a week's time. If you want to ensure you get hold of one on launch day, pre-order begins on 26 October, which is this Friday.
The iPad mini starts at £269 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only model. Expect the price to go up if you opt for 32 or 64GB options, and if you want the model with mobile data as well as Wi-Fi. We'll be updating this story the second we find out the precise prices of those other models, so stay tuned.
£269 is more expensive than I was hoping for -- and £21 more than the equivalent US price, including VAT. It's nowhere near the £199 price tag on Google's 16GB Nexus 7, which has a higher resolution screen. Will the iPad mini emerge triumphant from this tiny tablet tussle? Tell me in the comments.
New iPad 4th generation
Apple has stuck a more powerful processor in its now-to-be-called big iPad, as well as 4G capability (on EE) in the UK. It hasn't changed the price though -- it still starts at £399. Like the mini, pre-order opens this Friday and the A6X-toting new iPad is on sale on 2 November.
