Storage device maker Iomega launched two new external hard drive product lines Monday. Available now, drives in the Iomega HDD Portable Hard Drive line weigh about 8 ounces each and will come in 20GB and 30GB capacities. The Iomega HDD External Hard Drives will come in 40GB, 80GB and 120GB sizes when they ship next month.
Iomega's 20GB USB portable drive starts at $199, and the 30GB USB (universal serial bus) model costs $259. In the HDD External Hard Drives series, the 40GB unit with a USB interface will cost $199, the 80GB model with a USB interface will cost $299, and the 120GB USB drive will be priced at $349. For an additional $20 to $30, buyers will be able to get the HDD External Hard Drives with the FireWire interface. Iomega will also offer modules that allow all the drives to swap between USB and FireWire.
