Invention Machine raises $7.5 million

Software developer said Tuesday that it has closed a $7.5 million round of venture capital funding, its fifth round to date. The funds came from Citigroup, French software company Dassault Systemes, Millennium 3 Capital and RRE Ventures. The Boston-based company, founded in 1992, makes software designed to help companies search for and save intellectual property that is produced from research and development activities. The company said it will use the new funding to develop its first product to take advantage of the Internet. Including the latest round of funding, the company has raised a total of $34 million.
