Intertainer wins video-on-demand deal

Video-on-demand provider Intertainer inked a deal with broadband-network provider Winfirst to offer its services. Under the deal, Los Angeles-based Intertainer said Winfirst customers will have access to more than 700 hours of content, including content compiled from Intertainer's catalog of movies, TV programs, music videos and concerts. Denver-based Winfirst said its video-on-demand technology includes NCube servers and Philips set-top boxes. Winfirst has regulatory approval to build networks to more than 3.7 million homes in major markets including San Diego and Sacramento, Calif.; Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin, Texas; and Seattle. The announcement is one of many deals Intertainer has made recently. In May, the company said it planned to combine its service with Liberate Technologies' software to help cable operators provide interactive services to consumers.
