Intel, Ticketmaster in Web deal
Ticketmaster and Intel have signed a deal to develop Net-based ticketing technology for Ticketmaster's Web site.
Ticketmaster will introduce the "point of view" ticketing technology as a companion service to its Ticketmaster Online system in the second quarter of next year to about 100 of the biggest venues for which Ticketmaster sells seats.
Intel will develop "visual" computing technology as part of the deal that will eventually also allow buyers to preorder merchandise or food that could then be delivered to their seats during the game or concert they attend.
The planned e-commerce system will include push technology to broadcast information on upcoming events to potential ticket buyers, the companies said.
Ticketmaster will share some of the revenue generated from merchandise and food sales with Intel, although it will not give up a portion of the ticket sale.
Intel is an investor in CNET:The Computer Network.
