Intel lands wireless partner

Chipmaker Intel announced Tuesday at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France, that its Personal Internet Client Architecture has received Finnish wireless carrier Sonera's endorsement. Intel's architecture, a blueprint for wireless devices, is based on open standards, making it easier for developers to create applications and services for carriers. In addition, the venture capital arms of the two companies, Sonera Venture Capital and Intel Communications Fund, will work together to find and invest in small companies with promising wireless technologies.
