Intel extends time to acquire Xircom shares

Intel announced it has extended until 5 p.m. Wednesday its tender offer for all outstanding shares of common stock in mobile communications equipment maker Xircom. The extension is intended to allow Intel time to acquire 90 percent of outstanding shares of Xircom stock. Intel now owns or has tender offers on about 24.3 million Xircom shares, representing about 81 percent of outstanding shares.
