Intel, Compaq invest in InfiniBand firm

Intel and Compaq Computer have made an unspecified investment in Lane15 Software, one of a host of start-ups trying to make some money off the coming InfiniBand technology for faster servers. The Austin, Texas, company creates the software used to control the various components that make up an InfiniBand system. InfiniBand technology will increase the reliability and speed of connections between a server's CPU and peripherals such as storage systems or network cards.
