Inside.com implements subscription fee

Inside.com has implemented a mandatory subscription fee to access its articles about the media industry. The move has been expected and was outlined when Brill Media Holdings acquired Inside's parent, Powerful Media. As previously reported, Inside will charge $3.95 a month or $39 a year for access. Readers can also sample individual articles for 15 cents to 40 cents per story. The newly redesigned Inside also includes articles from Primedia's line of trade publications, including Cable World and Folio, to name a few. In a note to readers, Brill wrote that the charges stem from the company's intent to turn Inside into a "real business," which depends on its readers to help pay for the production costs.
