InfoSpace appoints new board member

InfoSpace, which provides Internet applications and infrastructure services for wireless carriers and Web sites, says it has appointed Lewis Taffer to serve on its board of directors. Taffer spent 22 years at American Express, where he managed the company's relationships with airlines, retailers, hotels, restaurants and entertainment companies, according to InfoSpace. He also recently developed with InfoSpace an online shopping portal for American Express customers. Early this year, InfoSpace's chief executive, chief financial officer and chief operating officer resigned. Former Chief Executive Arun Sarin, who previously headed Vodafone-AirTouch's U.S. and Asia operations, was seen as strategic to furthering the company's wireless efforts. When Sarin left, Naveen Jain, the company's chairman, returned to the CEO role.
