iKnowledge pulls in $8 million

iKnowledge, which provides content management and distribution, says it has raised $8 million in a second round of financing, bringing its total to $19 million. The funding was provided by original investors Carmel Ventures, DOR Ventures and Star Ventures, and by new investor D-Partners. A representative for the Lexington, Mass.-based company said it will use the funds to aid its expansion in Europe and to continue development of its ActiveContent Suite, which the company released in September. The technology enables businesses to update content on their Web sites without the hassle of using Java or HTML coding. Earlier this year, iKnowledge signed a deal to manage content for a broadband music video program from Universal Music Group.
